My father (died March 27, 1975) was an oiler on duty at time of torpedo hit onboard SS James Eagan Layne. Torpedo hit engine room just proir to my father exiting and sealing door. All info I can find is JEL was torpedoed by U-1195. Uboat.net states she was sank by U-399. Which is correct?
