Pieces of Eight

Cover

Cover

I was in Florida in 1968, and everybody was talking about this fantastic find. Kip and his pals had found a Spanish treasure fleet between Cape Malabar and Hutchinson Island. They even found a $50000 necklace on the beach.Great photos, and a good lesson of how persitance pays off.

This book was published in 1966 so there is no ISBN.

I have this book! The actual cover, complete…I think Kip signed it, also.
What stories and what fun it was, as a child, to visit (tag-along with my dad)with Kip and Rex…s well as Rex and his family, when I was a child in the 60’s and early 70s.

My father, Bob Maidhof, was then the owner of the Melbourne Fla.Burger King, which was the first Burger King Franchise, ever(such fla. history!).
My father,Kip, and Rex were great friends in the early 60’s through Kips death.

I recall day trips down to Kips or Rex’s home…
My dad, Bob Maidhof also gifted we five children with remarkable “artifacts” made from first casts, made from the original coins, rings, etc. The replicas are in pure gold, and theya re beautiful to enjoy!
I am enjoying the family heirlooms that my Dad, Rex, and Kip created together, with the casts of rings and coins
    from the wrecks.
The coins I have look identical to the beautifully restored originals, and the rings, the same. My dad had the casts in safe storage, and this has piqued such curiosity, as I was showing my own children about my childhood, in Melbourne beach, Fla…circa 1960-84…Anyway, whomever may read this message, best wishes for your adventures!
Finally… those were amazing times…between Shipwrecks and the Apollo program in Florida… during the 60’s nowhere in the world could be more wondrous for a child,…all the Best, Teri-Lisa Maidhof Stagg

I bought this book recently as it is one of my favorite books, but unfortunately the dust jacket was in poor condition. so I recreated it using a scanner and Photoshop. I cleaned up the graphics and the end result was awesome. when I print it I am going to use some map tac or something similar to preserve the new cover. probably spent about 30 hours on the project, and it will cost $15 to print, but in my opinion well worth it .
